Diamond Open Access can still be seen as the future of scholarly publishing, and PsychOpen GOLD, together with its editors, authors, and reviewers, represented a significant step in that direction. Unfortunately, the Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID) can no longer continue along this path due to financial constraints. The costs of operating the platform cannot be sustained from the institute’s budget. Thus, ZPID has made the difficult decision to discontinue PsychOpen GOLD by 31 December 2027. ZPID and the PsychOpen GOLD team continue to support all journals through this transition and are working closely with the editors to ensure they find suitable new publishing homes.
